Day 01 – [08 Aug] Nagasaki Airport [NGS - 長崎空港; Nagasaki Kuko]
NGS – Nagasaki Airport was small and cute; in Japanese way of talking, “kawai(lovely cute)”. But, similar with other big-time airports in Japan, for instance, KIX – Kansai Airport near Osaka and NGO – Chubu Centrair International Airport near Nagoya, it was created on a offshore island. The difference is that whereas those KIX and NGO were built on artificial islands, NGS was built from a “real” island whose shape was seriously different from nowadays’ – a square.
Anyway, it is obviously one of the Japanese construction wonders. So, for those who is interested in Japanese serious constructions, it is worthwhile to have a look when you have a chance to land on NGS. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a photo of its squared shape, since my seat was “emergency seat” right in front of flight attendants’ seats. (While landing and taking off, photographing is prohibited. I really don’t understand why it is. According to the experiment done by Lufthansa several years ago, electronic devices including mobile phones had not affected airplane at all during landing & taking off. Hmm… anyway.)

Champon is a Chinese-Japanese mixed noodle and its variety is simply huge. Among them, Nagasaki Champon is the most famous; it is so famous that you will see this huge Champon bowl in the middle of Nagasaki Airport.
For my rent-a-car, I have showed my booking voucher to a staff in rent-a-car desk in the airport. Soon, another staff greeted me with a white van, by which we moved to a “real” office with a large parking lot fulled with rent-a-cars.
It was almost 6 p.m. and have got about 60 km of driving on totally unknown Japanese road, with driver’s seat on the right side of car.
